Super Bowl XLVII (as with all Super Bowls) will be one for the record books. On Sunday, for the first time ever, two brothers will be facing off against each other as head coaches. This should add an extra layer of rivalry and excitement to the match up (especially for the Harbaugh family).
Whether you'll be watching for the game itself or just for the commercials, odds are you'll have a few beers around either way. So no matter which team you are rooting for, we hope you can enjoy all of the beers on this list (even if a few might have been brewed in enemy territory).
-
Anchor Brewing Co - Humming Ale
@AnchorBrewing | 5.9% ABV
With roots that go back to the Gold Rush when German brewer Gottlieb Brekle arrived in San Francisco with his family in 1849, we can't think of a better brewery to pair with the 49ers. Pouring a lovely golden color, Humming Ale is named after the old beer term "humming," describing a strong, effervescent ale. This beer definitely lives up to its name.
-
Stillwater Artisanal Ales - Why Can't IBU?
@StillwaterAles | 6% ABV
Because everyone wants to go to the Super Bowl, but not everyone gets the chance (Sorry, Tom - better luck next year) we think Baltimore-based Stillwater Artisan Ales' Why Can't IBU? Saison is a fitting choice to represent the Baltimore Ravens. Made with spicy Belgian yeast and strong American hops, Why Can't IBU? is just as much the envy of other Belgian IPAs as the Ravens are the envy of the AFL.

Beer Valley Brewing Company - Pigskin Pale Ale
@Beer_valley | 6% ABV
Even though Oregon doesn't have a professional football team of their own, that doesn't mean they don't love the game. From Beer Valley Brewing Company, Pigskin Pale Ale is described as "crisp and clean, like a well executed touchdown pass." With its fluffy white head filled with wonderful hop aromas and its crisp, bitter taste, this beer is definitely worth six points in our book. Go ahead and grab yourself another bottle and go for the "extra pint" (sorry, we couldn't resist.)
-
Two Brothers - Bitter End
@TwoBrothersBeer | 5.2% ABV
This year's Super Bowl will pit brother against brother. Jim Harbaugh (head coach of the 49ers) will face off against his older brother John (head coach of the Ravens) and we can't think of a beer more fitting for this match up than Two Brothers' Bitter End. With its subtle malt aroma and American hop bitterness, this beer starts off with just a hint of bitterness, but at the finish, you'll know how it got its name. On Sunday, we'll be left with one victorious Harbaugh brother and another who met a Bitter End--but at least he can drown his sorrow in some delicious beer!
-
Abita - Triple Haze
@TheAbitaBeer | 8% ABV
To honor the host city of New Orleans and the spirit of Super Bowl, the last beer on our list is Abita's Triple Haze, a strong lager made with raspberries that hails straight from New Orleans. Because when you boil it all down, millions of dollars will be spent selling fizzy yellow lagers, controversy will arise over whether or not Beyonce lip-synched her halftime performance, two teams will duke it out for a trophy, but eventually it will all be over and we'll be left in a haze.
Why did you choose Humming out of all of Anchor's delicious beers? Don't get me wrong, its an amazing beer BUT: its their FALL seasonal! You can't get it for the Super Bowl (or if you do find, its not fresh so why bother?). Get some Steam and maybe Liberty, GO 49ers
