  • What's Up At SF Beer Week February 15-16

    Beer Events - February 14, 2012

As the San Francisco leg of our book tour comes to a close, we have loads of free time to take in the very best parts of SF Beer Week. Need some ideas? Here are our picks for Wednesday and Thursday, February 15 and 16.

We'll do just about anything for cheese, and Lucky Hand's Adam Krammer happens to be stopping by Mission Cheese on Valencia St. on February 15 to talk about the brand, answer your questions, and nosh on cheese and food specially paired with Lucky Hand's Cali Common and The Black Lager brews. Stop by between 11am and 1pm or 6pm and 8pm to join the (free!) fun.

Still hungry? Local Mission Eatery Executive Chef Jake Des Voignes is putting together a rockin' menu of his all-local cuisine paired with Almanac's seasonal ales. Food tastes better when it's grown and made in-house. Seriously. Admission is $51 ($36 for three-course meal and beer pairings for $15), and runs from 5:30-10pm on February 15.

Leave work early on February 16 for the Deschutes Brewery Total Tap Takeover at the Beta Lounge on Durant Ave. in Berkeley. Starting at 4pm, the lounge will be offering sample flights and pints of a wide selection of Deschutes beers, including a special limited release keg. Admission is free, so you can spend some of those saved bucks on a yummy dish at Beta! Later, hop the BART back over to San Francisco for beer and barbecue at Southpaw BBQ on Mission. From 5-11pm, they're offering a three-course Southern barbecue dinner paired with four black beers, including their house-brewed porter.

Not committed to just one day? Pacific Coast Brewing Company in Oakland will be tapping their winter beers from 11:30am until closing from February 15 to February 19, and Dynamo Donut and Almanac Beer Company are offering a new donut made with Almanac's Winter Wit and glazed with a secret sauce made of brewer's malt and orange zest - a perfect way to start your day!

  • 2.2-2.16: San Francisco Book Tour

    Beer Events - February 9, 2012

The west coast is a long one, and we couldn't visit LA without making a trip up to the Bay Area for some foggy-weather fun. In  between adventures in excessive eating, we have a few great things planned out for our beer-loving friends.

Join us at the Williams-Sonoma in Union Square on Sunday, February 12 at 2pm for a special book signing and brewing demonstration. We'll be teaching you the ins and outs of small batch brewing while answering your questions and, of course, signing books. Admission is free, with books available for purchase.

Too busy sleeping off your hangover to make it to the 2pm demo? Never fear - we're back at 6! Swing over to the Walnut Creek BevMo! on North Main at 6pm to pick up your preferred hair of the dog and, while you're there, check out a demo for our Everyday IPA. Admission is free, and signed books will be available for purchase. Why not pick up a kit while you're there and save yourself the trouble of having to make a beer run every weekend?

Think the only suitable meal for beer is pizza? Think again. On Monday, February 13 at 7pm, we're teaming up with Hands On Gourmet for a delicious evening of making, pairing, and cooking with beer. While we brew up a selection of beers, the fine folks at Hands On are going to show you how to create beer-inspired dishes. Come hungry, because there will be plenty of beer and food to fill you up! Admission is $50 and includes  copy of our book. To purchase tickets, click here.

It's 4th of July weekend - a time to celebrate freedom, America, summer, sandy beaches, and the fact that you're probably missing at least one day of work. Beer Events - June 9, 2011

It's getting hot, and you're getting thirsty. You could go hiking this weekend, sit around in your stuffy apartment, or ride your bike... but it's too hot for that. Let's be honest: there's nothing better on a hot summer's day than a cold beer. And there's nothing better than a cold beer than another cold beer.

This phenomenon gets exponentially compounded when you have the chance to drink beers from around the country and the world, so if you're feeling thirsty this weekend, check out some of these amazing beer events being held around North America.
