From trying newly released beers in North Carolina to giving your opinion on which IPA should be on tap at a Williamsburg bar, this weekend has plenty of great beer drinking opportunities. Beer paired with good company and music (as it should be) is in no short supply--this should set the tone for a wonderful beer-filled weekend.
Alaska is starting the year off right with Alaska Beer Week, so follow their lead check out some great beer events that are happening all over the country this weekend.

Charlotte, North Carolina
Temperatures may be above freezing in Charlotte, but craft brewers still know what beer styles are necessary in order to brave the winter season. Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (we know it's old because it's spelled with an 'e') is releasing Fat Boy Baltic Porter on Saturday. Join together with good company for a breakfast, a bomber of this new brew and other goodies. The event is capped at 100, so hurry and get your ticket now! -
Anchorage, Alaska
You can't argue with the slogan, "Brave the cold. Revere the beer," especially in a place where 60 degree weather is balmy. Kick off Alaska Beer Week on Friday night with a taste of 3000 Belgian-style Barley Wine, named for being the 3000th batch of beer brewed at Midnight Sun Brewing Company. Can't make it on Friday? There are events going on every day from January 11th to the 20th. -
Kansas City, Missouri
With Macalester College only a few miles away, you might think that Summit Brewing Company had heard enough bagpipes for a lifetime (Macalester students are offered lessons at no cost). Apparently not, as they have sponsored the Winter Storm Pipes and Drums Concert in Kansas City, MO this Saturday. Part of their sponsorship is providing unlimited refills of Summit Brewing Co. beers in your souvenir pint glass at minimal cost. -
Brooklyn, New York
Think you've got a refined palate? Come give your opinion at Mugs Alehouse during a Mystery IPA Contest from noon to 3pm on Saturday. For the price of entry, you get to taste 12 American IPAs as often as you need to make an informed decision. Vote and receive a pint glass filled with your favorite of the bunch. The winning brew will be on tap for six months at Mugs, so make your vote count. -
Rochester, New York
Have you ever seen a frog playing the guitar? Maybe 'down by the bay,' (or in New York City) but if you're upstate, it's more likely that you've seen it on a poster for Homegrown II, an event going on at Lovin' Cup Bistro & Brews this Saturday. With regional beer and vendors, and a line up of local bands scheduled until close, you'll see what makes Rochester great. Save on the cover and buy in advance.
Thanks for the LoVe!
