Weekend Beer Events 2/17

Beer Events - February 16, 2012

There's nothing like drinking for a good cause, and Friday's Ales for Autism Black & White Beer Ball in Windsor, CA is a great way to start the weekend. As usual, this weekend is full of craft brew festivals and food pairings, because while some things remain seasonal, one's love for food and beer remains constant all year round. Luckily this is a nationwide epidemic, so you'll never have to travel too far for good brews and bites!

  1. WINDSOR, CA

Non-profit autism fundraising program Ales for Autism is throwing their hat in the ring for San Francisco Beer Week by hosting the Black & White Beer Ball, a semi-formal night of unlimited tasters of black and white beer from various breweries, local food, photo booth fun, and live music. The event is on Friday, February 17, and lasts from 6-10pm. They're even offering special rates at nearby hotels to avoid drunk driving. Tickets range from $25 to $35, and all proceeds go to Ales for Autism.

  2. MILWAUKEE, WI

Before brewing beer was accessible to literally everyone (thanks in part to some beer making kits, ahem), Milwaukee was the beer capital of the world. Remember the opening to 'Laverne and Shirley'? Well, while it might not hold the same shine, Milwaukee still knows how to throw a pretty decent beer festival. The Milwaukee Public Museum's 14th Annual Food and Froth Fest, launching on Saturday from 7-10pm, features samples from 200 international, local, seasonal and specially crafted beers, appetizers from local restaurants and caterers, live music, raffles, and more. Tickets range from $55 to $100 and sell out quickly. Pick them up here.

  3. PHOENIX, AZ

Feeling like a lone stout lover in a sea of heffe-heads? There's a whole festival just for you! Arizona Beer Week is officially being kicked off by Saturday's 12th Annual Strong Beer Festival, a whole day dedicated to you "heavy drinkers." There will also be a wide variety of beer styles available for tasting, so you don't have to be a die-hard strong beer drinker to attend. Bring an appetite and your dancing shoes, because music and food vendors will be there, too. Admission ranges from $10-40 and lasts from 1-5pm. 4. LAKE MARY, FL

World of Beer Lake Mary is taking over a local park on Saturday from 3-7pm to celebrate CRAFTfest, an outdoor festival dedicated to celebrating over 100 craft beers. Attendees will be granted unlimited beer sampling while listening to local bands play and earning their chance to win a bunch of swag from World of Beer and other vendors. Tickets range from $25 to $40. For more information, click here.

  5. LANCASTER, PA

The Chameleon Club in Lancaster is hosting its first ever Winterfest Craft Brew Festival on Sunday featuring all-you-can-drink samples of beers from over 10 breweries. Free food and live music are also featured. Admission is $35 in advance, $40 at the door, but it gets better: in efforts to prevent drunk driving, designated drivers can enter for 10 bucks, skip the beer, and enjoy the food. Safety first!
